Mairi Gougeon

Minister for Rural Affairs and the Natural Environment, Scotland

Mairi Gougeon was appointed Minister for Rural Affairs and Natural Environment in June 2018. Her reesponsibilities include supporting the Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy and the Cabinet Secretary for the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform. With specific responsibilities for animal health & welfare, marine planning, national Parks and natural heritage, the physical and marine environment and sustainable development.

Mairi Gougeon was previously a councillor for Brechin and Edzell, during which she was chairwoman of the East of Scotland European Consortium. She is a history graduate from the University of Aberdeen. Mairi was elected as the MSP for Angus North and Mearns in May 2016.
