For two periods (1992-1997 and 2001-2010) I served as the administrative director of the Centre for Sami Studies. My dissertation in political science was completed in 2008 with the title: The Bridge-Building Role of Political Procedures: Indigenous Rights and Citizenship Rights within and across the Borders of the Nation State. From February 2008 to June 2010 I served as a coordinator on the Arctic Governance Project. I chaired the Fávllis project and have been associated to the project Arctic Tipping Points. I am a scholar at the TUNDRA and Finnmark landscape projects. Since January 2013 I have been the academic director of the Centre for Sami Studies.
