Where is the conference held, and how do I get there?

The conference is held in the Arctic city of Tromsø, situated at 69 degrees north. The city has a population of about 80 000 inhabitants. Tromsø is a modern Arctic city with a major university, a lively city centre, and a large number of restaurants, cafés and shopping possibilities.

The easiest way to reach Tromsø is by flying. Tromsø airport, Langnes, is located approximately 10-15 minutes by car from the city centre. There are approximately 10 flights from Oslo, the capital of Norway, each day. The flight to from Oslo to Tromsø only take 2 hours. There are also a number of direct international flights, including from London Gatwick, Dusseldorf and Helsinki.

The main conference venue is Clarion Hotel the Edge, although other activities happen in locations across the city. Clarion Hotel the Edge is located in the downtown city centre. There are regular buses from the airport to various locations in the city centre. The best way to look at timetables and book bus tickets is to download the Troms Reise app. The trip from the airport to the city centre is about 15 minutes with bus number 42, 40 and 24. There is also an airport express bus which goes to various hotels in the city centre, and tickets can be purchased with the driver.

You can also get a taxi from the airport to the conference venue or your hotel. Prices vary and we recommend that you ask for an approximate value before booking. Taxis are available directly outside the airport or by pre-booking with Tromsø Taxi, phone: (+47) 03011; or Din Taxi, phone: (+47) 02045.

You can book accommodation at the Clarion Hotel the Edge through their website or our registration page. Please note the cancellation policy on the Clarion Hotel the Edge website. Weather Conditions

Although Tromsø is an Arctic city with a subarctic climate, temperatures are moderate, even in winter. Temperatures hover between 0°C and -5°C, but can reach as cold as -10°C on individual days.

There is a high change of snowfall throughout the conference week, and the ground will be icy and slippery. We recommend bringing warm clothes, jumpers, gloves and hats, as well as some spikes for your shoes. Sunlight will be limited during the first weeks of February, so bright coloured outer clothing or reflectors should be worn for higher visibility. Be careful when walking close to buildings, as snow and ice can fall from the roof.
