Yunjin Kim (South Korea)

Masters, Busan National National University

I currently have BA in Law (Andong National University/Université de Strasbourg), MA in International Studies (Busan National University) and have been taking part in a few Arctic training program both of in Korea and Finland supported by Korea Maritime Institute and Korea Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. The link with Arctic Frontiers, I participated 2018 AF Student Forum thanks to the Embassy of Norway. It was a great opportunity to meet many young talented friends who have the same interest as me to talk about the Arctic and the future cooperation together. I was working on a research paper about marine protected areas in the Arctic Ocean during my internship programme at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS). And I’m very pleased to have a chance to present my research poster ‘The legal framework of marine protected areas (MPAs) in the Arctic Ocean under UNCLOS’ while I’m participating in young ambassador program at the same time. As the next generation who take the responsibility of the future of the Arctic, I highly expect that I can share the knowledge on the issues around the Arctic region and build relationships with people from their fields of expertise in 2019 AF conference.
