Sourav Chatterjee (India)

India National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research

Sourav Chatterjee was born on 30th June 1989 in a small town Berhampore in West Bengal, India. He did his schooling in Krishnath College School, Berhampore. He did his bachelor’s degree from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, in Mathematics (Major) during 2007-10 and subsequently joined National Institute of Technology, Durgapur for pursuing Master of Sciences (MSc) in Mathematics with Computer Applications (2010-12). After completion of his master’s degree he joined Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune where he was trained (2012-14) in Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences. Subsequently he joined National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research in Goa and is currently doing research on Air Sea Interaction in the Arctic Region. Working here at NCPOR has given him the opportunities to be part of several expeditions to Arctic and Antarctic as well. Sourav is passionate about exploring new places and food!
