Sarah Milne (Ireland)

Marine Institute of Ireland

Sarah Milne is a PhD candidate at the University of Limerick, Ireland. She successfully passed her viva exam in November 2019 and is currently finalising her thesis. Her research is a historical-political analysis of Arctic regional security from the Cold War to the present-day, which she hopes to publish after completion. Sarah was awarded funding to attend the Emerging Leaders program by the Irish Embassy in Oslo and the Marine Institute Ireland. She is eager to learn more about security cooperation through the Arctic Council Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response (EPPR) working group and networking with other Arctic researchers and professionals. In the future, Sarah plans to contribute to Ireland’s growing Arctic research through her involvement in the newly established Network of Arctic Researchers in Ireland (NARI) and hopes that Ireland will engage with closer links to the working groups of the Arctic Council.
