Raylene Mitchell

Research Assistant, Northern Energy Innovation, Yukon University

I am a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) graduate currently pursing my M.Eng (Computer Engineering) at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I have demonstrated experience clean energy project development, Indigenous community outreach, and research and analysis obtained through various engineering and research related roles in the private sector and at academic institutions.

In my research assistant role at Yukon University’s Northern Energy Innovation, I develop wind turbine models for northern Canadian communities. Bringing northern and Indigenous lived experiences into engineering remains one of my goals – deconstructing the idea that being Indigenous and being an engineer are mutually exclusive.
