Margrete Keyser (Norway)

Research Council of Norway

Margrete Keyser is originally from Oslo but have lived in Svalbard for the last 12 years. She came there rather as a coincidence, just like many others, to take a course at UNIS, and ended up staying for 3 semesters. When she had finished her master’s on polar bears and humans in Svalbard, she got a few short-term contracts at The Governor’s Office before she got a position as Tourism Adviser. All good things must come to an end at the Governor’s and she got to end her work there as a field inspector during the summer 2016, based in Kongsfjorden. Today she works at Svalbard Science Forum with communication and the Research in Svalbard Portal. During the whole time up here I’ve been a volunteer at Red Cross, participating in MRO exercises, avalanche rescues etc. She is also passionate about beach clean-ups and involved in Prosjekt Isfjorden.
