Lisbet Sørensen (Norway)


Lisbet Sørensen is a research scientist in the department of Environment and New Resources at SINTEF Ocean in Trondheim. She has a background in environmental chemistry from NTNU and graduated with a PhD in organic analytical chemistry from the University of Bergen in 2017. Her research focuses on challenges related to the marine environment and developing tools to improve environmental risk assessment. Her scientific expertise lies in the application of analytical tools to assist environmental fate and effect studies of priority and emerging pollutants. Currently, her research focuses on the environmental degradation, interactions and potential toxic effects of produced water and crude oil compounds, as well as microplastic and nanoparticle pollution. Understanding the effect of the extreme climatic conditions in the Arctic on the fate of pollution is of particular interest to her.
