Janelle Flett
Project Coordinator, Barkley Project Group
Currently, I am a project coordinator on the development team for Barkley Project Group. We work directly with Indigenous communities within British Columbia and the Yukon. I specialize in working on solar power development, community energy planning, and implementation. I hold a BSc. in Environmental Science from Mount Royal University and am a proud member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation located on Treaty 8 Territory and am Gwich’in from my mother’s ancestry. I have participated in studies on water quality, aquatic metabolism, and geochemical weathering in proglacial rivers on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains at the University of Alberta. I am co-chair of the Indigenous Youth Advisory Council in partnership with Suncor. As the first cohort, I recently completed the Indigenous Clean Energy: Generation Power program. I hope to expand my knowledge and research in the renewables sector to decrease the impact on the environment and uphold the industry’s responsibility for land stewardship.
