Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), Norway

I’m 26 years old and I live in Trondheim where I work as a researcher and a marine geologist at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU). I’ve spent most of my life north of the Arctic Circle as I partly grew up in Tromsø and partly in Vesterålen. I’ve been fascinated by Arctic nature my whole life which is reflected in my field of study. At the age of 20 I started studying geology at UiT – the Arctic University of Norway. I finished my MSc in May 2016, where I focused on marine glacial land forms, using large acoustic datasets. Today I do much of the same. In addition, I work with a team who creates marine sediment maps used for marine management (MAREANO). We also develop methods to improve our sampling and interpretation of data. Time will show what’s next for me, but there is no progress without science.
