Femi Anna Thomas (India)

Femi Anna was born on Earth Day i.e. 22nd April 1991, in Kerala. She did her schooling in Syrian Jacobite Public School, Thiruvalla, and her Bachelours degree from women’s Christian College, Chennai in Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology. Through her studies she developed her interest in life sciences and ecology, and continued to the study of birds, butterflies and turtles. Butterfly watching and bird watching became her hobbies and her BSc life have moulded her leadership skills. For her master’s she has switched to Marine Biology, at Cochin University of Science and Technology and took the decision of pursuing my research in Marine Microbiology. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD at National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Goa on the topic of bacterial diversity and its interaction with metals in glacio-marine environment of Arctic. She was happy to be part of Indian Arctic Expedition in the years 2017 and 2018.
