Masters, University of Oslo

The extreme environment and the organisms thriving in the Arctic fascinates me. At the same time, with the large changes we see today, I am concerned for the future of these ecosystems. I believe Arctic Frontiers will be a good opportunity to get a better understanding of the ongoing research and an opportunity to connect with polar researchers.

I went to the polar regions for the first time in 2016, for a bachelor semester at the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). Since then I have been coming back, I have worked with the tourism industry there and my University of Oslo (UiO) MSc project is related to the ecology on Svalbard. The thesis investigates the effects of a bird cliff on the coastal ecosystem through discharge of nutrients and contaminants. The fieldwork for the thesis was done last summer.
