Dina Abdel-Fattah (USA)

Dina Abdel-Fattah is a Natural Resources and Sustainability PhD Candidate at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Her background is in the social sciences and information technology and she has focused her work and research on the human-technology interface. She received her BA in International Relations from the College of William and Mary and her MSc. in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam. Before starting her PhD, Dina worked as an IT project manager for firms in Germany and the USA and has implemented projects in over 25 countries.

As part of her PhD, she brings her experiences working with technology and individuals to the Arctic. Her doctoral research focuses on decision-making under uncertainty regarding cryospheric hazards. Specifically, she is researching what are effective ways to communicate and relay predictive modeling regarding glacial and sea ice hazards to at-risk communities.
