Alexandra Jarna

Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), Trondheim

Alexandra Jarna works in the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and cartography at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU), Trondheim. One of her main interests and objectives is to bridge the knowledge from geologists and geological information to the society through GIS. By doing so, she works close to many geological research groups where she has developed an interest in automated classification of geological features for optimization of the geological mapping workflow. She will pursue a Ph.D. in that subject. Her educational background is a Master of Geomatics and Cartography from Technical University of Ostrava. During her Master studies, she was seeking North and spent 3 years as Erasmus student and Free-mover at Norwegian Universities studying geology and GIS at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS).
