On the occasion of Finland’s chairmanship in the Arctic Council, the Embassy of Finland and Arctic Frontiers have the pleasure of inviting you to the seminar “Smart Arctic – Future Developments in the High North”.

The State secretary Matti Anttonen (FI) and state secretary Audun Halvorsen (NOR) will start by discussing the role of the Arctic Council, the current developments in the arctic policies of Norway and Finland and preconditions for sustainable economic development in the Arctic.

The business representatives will take a closer look at the innovative and technology based projects in the Arctic. Finland is at the front of advanced technology innovation, while Nor­way leads the way for a sustainable global ocean economy. How can Finland and Norway work together to develop new technology solutions for a Smart Arctic?

Marine mapping, connectivity, offshore wind, search and rescue (SAR), and maritime industry all rely on modern technology to operate in demanding Arctic environment. Is the industry investing enough in innovative approaches to reduce their carbon footprint? Do we have the technology to develop resources in the Arctic in a safe and sustainable way? What are the best technology solutions for a Smart Arctic?
