Wednesday 13 November, 2019

Hotel Park Inn by Radisson Poliarnie Zori, 17 Ulitsa Knipovicha

Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors of the world economy. One of the areas where tourism is developing is the Arctic regions, which attracts many people who wish to experience its wildlife, pristine landscapes and local cultures. Some of the factors contributing to increased tourism are improvements in gear, infrastructure, technology and marketing.

Tourism is most often seen as an economic opportunity, especially for local communities, and with increased tourism follows opportunities, but also challenges. How do we see the development of future Arctic tourism, and what role can the Arctic regions take as hubs in this development? Can we deal with the challenges following the increased tourism, and balance protecting the natural environment as well as creating revenue from visitors to local communities?
