Format: Armchair discussion, Q&A
Moderator: Mr. Ole Øvretveit, Director, Arctic Frontiers
This is an armchair discussion addressing energy activity in the Arctic including ongoing projects, new strategies and prospects based on the latest technological findings.
Questions to be addressed:
The energy industry has a long history in some regions of the Arctic. Now activity is growing in new areas in the High North, both onshore and offshore, and there are calls for major investments in infrastructure. The Barents Sea, among others, is evolving as a petroleum region in the High North. The development of new projects will be important to business development both on- and off-shore, raising a number of questions: Which effects would petroleum development bring to communities and business in the High North? Who would be the major actors? What are the strategies for regional business development in various regions of the Arctic? What are prospects for international offshore and energy actors? Can the Arctic be a test site for greening of the offshore energy industry?
