2012 – Energies of the High North

The focus was on global energy needs and how they will affect the utilisation of traditional, alternative and renewable energy resources in the High North, which technologies are needed for safe and environmental friendly operations, and how developments will impact local and regional communities. Arctic Frontiers 2012 discussed the global energy outlook, and assessed the potential of traditional, alternative and renewable energy resources in the High North. Key issues will be how energy resources should be utilised to meet the world’s energy demand, what kind of technologies must be developed to ensure sustainable use of energy resources and how they will impact northern countries, local communities and way of life.
