Prime ministers present new report at Arctic Frontiers

news 191214Erna Solberg, Alexander Stubb and Kristina Persson, will announce new prospects for Arctic development at Arctic FrontiersErna Solberg, the prime minister of Norway, Alexander Stubb, the prime minister of Finland, and Kristina Persson, the Swedish minister of strategic development, will announce new prospects for Arctic development at Arctic Frontiers. The new report, “Growth from the North. How can Finland, Sweden and Norway achieve sustainable growth in the Scandinavian Arctic?”, will be presented by the three politicians.

In March 2014, the three Nordic prime ministers at the time, Solberg, Jyrki Katainen (Finland) and Fredrik Reinfeldt (Sweden), appointed an expert group to identify possible Norwegian-Finnish-Swedish projects for Arctic collaboration. The findings from the work of this group will be presented at Arctic Frontiers Policy, on Tuesday 20. January. When the group was established, Solberg gave the following statement: “Our three countries have common interests in strengthening the collaboration in the High North. It is important for my government to focus on the Arctic. Working closely with our Nordic partners is very natural, and together with my colleagues in Sweden and Finland, I want to strengthen these Arctic aspects of Nordic collaboration”.

The members of the expert group were Risto E. J. Penttilä, director of the Finnish Business and Policy Forum, Anne Husebekk, rector at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, and Magdalena Andersson, County Governor in Västerbotten in Sweden.
